It is that time of year again where we will be recognizing Community Leaders at the Black History Month: Unsung Community Leaders celebration and we need your nominations by January 29, 2020. This community and cultural event is hosted by and in collaboration with the African American Community and JCC Beacon Program at I.S. 49 on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Berta A. Dreyfus I.S. 49, 101 Warren St, Staten Island, N.Y. 10304 from 5:30pm to 9:30pm. Professor Debbie-Ann Paige, Public Historian and Professional Geneaologist will be our Mistress of Ceremony. February is dedicated as Black History Month, honoring the triumphs and struggles of African Americans throughout U.S. history, including the civil rights movement and their artistic, cultural and political achievements; however, we believe Black History should not be recognized for a day, a month, but 365 days of the year. We are today's history makers and we would like for you to join us in recognizing 3 community service leaders who are making a difference in our community through their profession of the arts, entrepreneurship and community service and youth leadership. Please join us as we shine a light on the work of leaders and changemakers in 2020 in the borough of Staten Island.
