Who Are The Elite Squad?

You don't know? You better ask Coach Jacqueline Taylor.

We sure found out last night at the Black History Month: Celebrating Unsung Community Service Leaders event, Thursday, February 27, 2020!

This free community and cultural event was hosted by and in collaboration with the African American Community and JCC Beacon Program at I.S. 49, 101 Warren St, Staten Island, NY 10304 in celebration of Black History Month and in honor of 3 of today's unsung change makers in the borough of Staten Island.

"It was great meeting you yesterday! Your energy and style is amazing! The team enjoyed themselves yesterday and are excited for any future events you have for us." Said Jacqueline Taylor, Staten Island, N.Y.

The Elite Squad came ready to step with 10 out of 20 team members and had the audience cheering for more of their elite stepping and empowering chants that was befitting to our Black History Month celebration.

This Staten Island based step team was founded on October 24, 2018 by Head coaches Jacqueline Taylor and Masani Smith. Both born and raised in Staten Island. Ms. Smith is from Mariners Harbor and Ms. Taylor is from West Brighton. They both attended CSI High School and that’s where their friendship first started. The dynamic duo have been involved in the step/dance world since grade school up until college. Ms. Taylor and Ms. Smith didn’t want it to just end there; they wanted to keep step alive in their community and made it their goal to have a successful step team.

The Elite Squad strive to build not only a strong step team, but a powerful sisterhood/brotherhood as well. They practice commitment, confidence, integrity and love, to grow as a team and individually. It is their mission to embody what it means to be elite.

Thank you The Elite Squad for your elite service!
